Egypt enjoys significant advantage over many countries in its ability to use satellite communications services at the Ku-band and Ka-band frequencies. The reason is the relatively dry weather of Egypt and the absence of rain most of the time in most areas. The advantage in engineering terms for Ka-band for example is as much as 13 dBs which is huge. There is a large amount of capacity being deployed to the market in Ku and Ka bands on High Throughput Satellites. This is bringing the prices of capacity down. The combination of high efficiency of using the capacity that Egypt enjoys and the lower prices can open the door for expansion of the use of small VSAT satellite terminals to support economic development all over Egypt, even in the most remote corners. From Halayeb to the Western Desert to the Oases as well as in the Nile Valley. There is a golden opportunity for Egypt to make use of this.
